Recommendations from Badass Ladies
Taté Walker, editor of Native Peoples magazine:
Seeds to plant (and the materials needed if plantable dirt isn’t accessible). Free daycare/healthcare.
Bea and Leah Koch, owners of The Ripped Bodice bookstore:
Bea: "We love everything that Bang Up Betty makes - with a soft spot for the special Ripped Bodice line - but especially her Smash the Patriarchy necklace."
Leah: "And you can never go wrong with a giftcard to The Ripped Bodice!"
Lygia Day Peñaflor, author and Hollywood teacher:
For the badass lady who loves her fun casualwear, this tank top.
Christa Desir, author and advocate:
1. I love giving women vibrators and am particularly fond of Lelo products.
2. I frequently give the people in my life the gift of donation to their favorite nonprofit orgs. This is my all-time favorite gift to receive so I have to believe it is the same for others.
3. It is super fun to go watch a roller derby bout and should be on everyone’s bucket list. My favorite team is the Chicago RedHots, which is fast-track derby. Buy your favorite women tickets to see a derby bout near them.
Julia Good Fox, University Dean:
Books! A few years ago, I read King Peggy by Peggielene Bartels. I liked it so much I gave copies of it to my friends. She discusses how she rises above such challenges as money and misogyny when she was named King. What a badass.
Erin Winick, mechanical engineer and jewelry designer:
All of the ShadowPlay Dresses! This company combines space and high fashion is a badass way. I have one of their shirts and get compliments on it every time I where it. I can never have enough space in my closet. Plus they match perfectly with my 3D printed Moon Phase Necklace.
